Raymond C. Goron, 93, of Southwest Greensburg, died Monday, October 9, 2017 in his home. He was born January 23, 1924 in McKees Rocks, a son of the late Florian and Bertha (Singer) Goron. Prior to retirement he had been employed by P&LE Railroad and later by Westinghouse, Youngwood. He was a member of St. Paul Parish, Greensburg, a Navy Veteran serving in WWII and participated in the landing at Iwo Jima as a Navy Corpsman. He was a member of the VFW Post #33 and the American Legion. He loved traveling the country with his late wife and enjoyed riding his bike on the Five Star Trail. Raymond was a skilled leather craftsman and read his bible and prayed daily. He was an avid photographer and enjoyed oil painting. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife: Catherine J. (King) Goron on April 29, 2016. He is survived by three sons: Francis M. Goron of Cincinnati, OH, Michael R. Goron and Patrick J. Goron both of Greensburg; two grandchildren: Michael C. Goron and Lydia J. Goron both of Plano, TX; his brother: Florian Goron, Jr. of Connellsville; and numerous nephews and his favorite nieces. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM Thursday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. Prayers will begin at 9:30 AM Friday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 10 AM in St. Paul Parish, Greensburg.
