John A. Trout, 77, of Unity Township, died Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born April 10, 1940 in Hunker, a son of the late Alvin and Mary E. (Galvin) Trout. He was a US Army veteran during the Vietnam war and prior to retirement he worked 42 years at Latrobe Area Hospital. John was a life member of Latrobe Vol. Fire Department Company #2, past President of Westmoreland County Firemen’s Association and was also member of the Mohawks. He served as a Latrobe City Councilman, past President of the Westmoreland County Boroughs Association and was active in the Westmoreland County Democrat Club. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Whitney, and was a volunteer D.J. at WYEP Radio Pittsburgh bluegrass since 1985. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Denise Jenniches. He is survived by his wife, Darlene R. (Steiner) Trout; his son, Mark Trout and wife Deanna of Hempfield Township; 4 grandchildren, Jim and Casey Trout and Savannah and Jacob Gray; a great grandson, Nathan; a son-in-law, Joseph Jenniches of Latrobe; his brother, Thomas Trout and wife Geraldine of Mt. Pleasant; 2 sisters, Rose Mary Yoder and husband Phillip of New Stanton and Barbara Perkins and husband Nicholas of Newport; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 PM Thursday at the Leo M. Bacha Funeral Home, Inc., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Friday in St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Whitney, with The Rev. James F. Podlesny, OSB as celebrant. Please go directly to the church. Private interment in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. Latrobe Fire Department will conduct a memorial service Thursday at 6:30 PM in the funeral home.
