Zachary J. Starrett, 33, of Latrobe, died Wednesday, December 23, 2020 in UPMC Presbyterian. He was born January 30, 1987 in Greensburg, a son of James R. Starrett, of Ligonier, and Carole (Schleifer) Starrett Simile and companion, Chet Joseph, of New Stanton. Zachary had a passion for the outdoors, fishing, hunting, hiking, and camping. He was an extraordinary musician. He played the mandolin and wrote and played music with his brother and lifelong friend, Spencer Hall. Together they were the Supper Break String Band. He also enjoyed attending live music events and performing music. Zachary and his dad enjoyed creating a variety of culinary masterpieces together. He also loved to explore and travel the country with his life partner, Michelle. Zachary was employed by Flappers at Tin Lizzy and was a member of the Pope and Young Club. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Joshua C. Starrett and companion Jami Leigh Wig, of Munhall; his maternal grandfather, Charles L. Schleifer, of Massillon, OH; his beloved life partner, Michelle Rauenswinder, of Pittsburgh and her family, Mary and Jerry Free; countless aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his devoted fur-son, Doug. There will be no public visitation. Private services were held at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. A memorial service will be held when conditions are safe to do so. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for final expenses. www.bachafh.com
