Vickie L. Queer, 69, of Unity Township, died Thursday, April 4, 2024 at home. She was born August 5, 1954 in Latrobe, a daughter of the late Robert H. Jr. and Kathryn E. (Sanford) Ankney. She and her husband operated Hickory Springs Farm in Unity Township and previously operated the former Judy’s Posey Patch. Vickie was a member of the Society of Farm Women in Somerset and loved doing ceramics. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Edwin “Ed” Queer and a daughter, Sandra L. Truchan. She is survived by her son, Scott D. Queer and wife Christine, a daughter, Tracy A. Ridilla and husband Clifford Jr. all of Unity Township, 6 grandchildren, Parker, Nina, Benjamin, Abraham, Anin and Luke, a great granddaughter, Piper, son-in-law, William Truchan of Ridgway, 3 sisters, Susan Fierst and husband David, Kathy Evans and husband Robert and Judy Ankney and her life partner Jan, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Monday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity, where funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday with The Rev. L. Samuel Scheiderer officiating. Interment will follow in Lycippus Community Cemetery, Unity Township. The family would like to offer their sincere thanks to Excela Health Home Hospice for their care.
