Vernon E. Higgins

Vernon E. Higgins, 71, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, October 26, 2021 in his home.  He was born May 4, 1950 in Irwin, a son of the late Eugene and Eleanor (Dunlap) Higgins.  He served as a medic in the PA National Guard.  Prior to retirement he had been an equipment operator for Hempfield Township Road Department for 33 years.  He was a member of Hempfield Hunt Club and Hecla Sportsman’s Club.  Vernon loved being with nature and hunting with his friends and family.  He enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle, and working with his hands doing concrete work, lawn care, or any job that needed to be done right.  He especially loved watching his grandchildren grow and compete in sports.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Vivian Ruffner and Beverly McNeal.  He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda (Moschetti) Higgins; two sons, Jeff Higgins and wife Jessica (Mitchell) Higgins, and Scott Higgins; two grandchildren, Cole and Alexa Higgins; and several nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Friday at the LEO M.
