Tyler Mears Obituary

Tyler J. Mears, 28, of Weltytown, passed away suddenly Thursday, November 7, 2024 in Longmont, Colorado.  He was born March 12, 1996 in Greensburg, a son of Mark T. and Mary M. (Ferlin) Mears of Weltytown.   Tyler was a graduate of Latrobe High School, attended Colorado School of Mines for College and eventually graduated with a Business Economics degree from St. Vincent College.  Tyler was most proud of his wrestling accomplishments as a WPIAL Champion, PIAA State Place Winner, Dapper Dan Classic Representative, freestyle National Champion with Team Pennsylvania and was awarded the Creed Westfall Award which encompasses athletic achievement combined with academic excellence and community service.  Recently, you might remember Tyler from his Mears Cards and More business or delivering delicious food to your door as a delivery driver for both Giannilli's II and Pleasant Unity Pizza.  There was not much Tyler loved more than cooking, eating and sharing his delicious food with others!  Some called him “Tank” or “T.T.” but we know him forever as a loving son, the best big brother and a giant Teddy Bear with the largest heart.  He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Whitney.  Tyler was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Ray A. Mears.  In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Hannah Mears, his brother, Brock T. Mears, bonus brother and best friend, Luke Monteparte, maternal grandparents, Frances and Joseph Ferlin, paternal grandmother, Nancy S. Mears and a very large loving family of aunts, uncles and cousins.  Friends will be received from 1 to 5 PM Sunday, November 17 at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 AM Monday in St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Whitney, with The Rev. James F. Podlesny, OSB as celebrant.  Interment will follow in St. Paul Reformed Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Township.  In honor of Tyler, the family asks that you please make a donation to Sage’s Army, 6044 Lincoln Highway, Greensburg, PA  15601.
