Thomas Toczek Obituary

Thomas J. Toczek, formerly of Mammoth, was peacefully guided home to eternal rest with the prayers of faith and family by his side on July 25, 2026.  Born May 30, 1945, in Mammoth, a son of the late Joseph J. and Helen C. (Zider) Toczek.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother John Toczek and his wife Mary, a sister Jane and her husband Harry Rozycki, a brother Joe Toczek and his special companion Rose Kubistek, a brother-in-law William Wise, and a nephew David Rozycki. Tom was a member of St. Florian Church, United, and the former St. Stanislaus Parish, Calumet, however, in recent years he regularly attended Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg. Prior to retirement, Tom worked for ITE and Leybold.  He was a veteran having served in United States Army Reserves, a member of Midway-St. Clair VFD, and a member of Norvelt VFD Club.  Tom was a 1963 graduate of Hurst High School.  Tom is survived by two siblings, his sister Martha and her husband Andrew Garbon and his sister Helen Wise, nephews and nieces: Theresa Toczek, John Toczek and his wife Anita, Kathleen Rozycki, Andrea Garbon, Steven Garbon and his wife Hilary, Natalie Kessinger and her husband Joseph, great-nephews and great nieces, Brian and Asha Toczek, Andrew and Colin Garbon, Joseph Jr., William, Linley, Theodore and Lola Kessinger.  Tom treasured his family and friends.  He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and mowing his lawn. He took great pride in his vegetable garden and shared its bounty with family and friends.  Tom looked forward to lively conversations, and the banter that accompanied the sporting events he watched and followed, especially when it involved the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Penguins.  He looked forward to making his almost daily visits to the Aerobic Center-Lynch Field not only to maintain a healthy lifestyle but most importantly for the engaging social interaction.  The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to all of Tom’s friends and neighbors who enriched his life in so many ways.  Also, our sincere gratitude to Fr. John Torres and the exceptional emergency services personnel.  Tom will be sadly missed by his family and friends.  We each have our own special memories. In Tom’s memory, pass along a smile to someone and share the camaraderie that he enjoyed so much with others you encounter.  Please join us for a funeral mass to be celebrated at 1 PM Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, 300 N. Main Street, Greensburg.  Please go directly to the church.  Interment to follow in the St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Calumet.  The family suggests memorial contributions be made to your favorite charity.  LEO M.
