Sylvester James “Jim” Lander, 67, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, January 19, 2021 in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born March 25, 1953 in Greensburg, a son of the late George “Tut” and Esther Mae (Kidd) Lander. Prior to retirement he had been a supervisor for Westinghouse, Waltz Mills. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg. Jim was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 344, Jeannette, Polish Club, Jeannette, Ukranian Club, Jeannette, Penn Rod and Gun Club, Bovard Firemen’s Club, and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1480, Greensburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Leonard “Red”, and Ronald Lander; and his sister, Charlotte Esspey. He is survived by his wife, Arlene L. (Anderson) Lander; his children, Christopher Smail (Darlene), Jason Anderson (Jenna), and Cynthia Brown (Bill), all of Greensburg; six grandchildren, Cameron Williams (Lindsey), Alexis Williams (Collin Martindale), Emma Anderson, Chase Anderson, Stacey Piper (Rick), and A.J. Kisic (Faith); eight great-grandchildren, Hadlee, Baker, Huntlee, Alexis, Jesse, Claire, Ellie, and Hayley; two brothers, Norman Lander (Marlene), of Jeannette, and George Lander (Mary), of Mississippi; his sister, Janice Auge (Vern), of DuBois; mother-in-law, Irene Baughman, of Greensburg; and several nieces and nephews.
