Susie (Washabau) Ferguson

Susie (Washabau) Ferguson, 74, of Southwest Greensburg, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a brief illness.  She was born May 15, 1950, in Greensburg, daughter of the late Welty M. and Roberta K. (Tranker) Waushabau. 

Susie married the love of her life, Rex, and the two of them moved to State College for Rex to finish his degree at Penn State University.  Susie dedicated her life to childcare and had cared for over 150 children.  She loved every child as her own and they affectionately referred to themselves as “Susie’s kids”.  She loved spending time with family and friends, especially hosting gatherings on their deck.  Her greatest joys were her two grandsons, Zach and Gabe.  She loved attending their sporting events and kept her friends up to date on all their latest achievements. 

Susie is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, Rex Ferguson; her daughter Carrie Ferguson (Carol Zornan); her son, Christopher Ferguson (Melissa); her two grandsons who she adored, Zach Zornan Ferguson and Gabe Ferguson; three brothers, Doug Washabau, Rich Washabau, and Jerry (Jill) Washabau, who has since passed; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, including her favorite cousin, Paula Preston Walsh and husband Kevin; countless loving friends; and the hundreds of children she cared for. 

A party in Susie’s memory will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 2 to 5 PM at All Saints Brewing Company, 1602 Route 119, Greensburg. LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg is assisting with arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tri-City Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 975, Greensburg, PA 15601.
