Stephen G. Viazanko, Jr., 89, of Norvelt, passed away peacefully at home Friday, September 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 26, 1936 in United, a son of the late Stephen G. Sr. and Catherine (Whisdosh) Viazanko. He was a graduate of Hurst High School class of 1954. Prior to retirement he worked 37 years at Latrobe Steel, was a bus driver for Mt. Pleasant Area School District and served as Mt. Pleasant Township auditor. He was a member of St. Florian Catholic Church, United, life member of Hecla Sportsmen’s Club, honorary lifetime social member of Norvelt VFD and member of the Latrobe Steel buck pool committee. He is survived by his wife with whom he just celebrated 67 years of marriage, Mary E. (Rockar) Viazanko, 5 children, Stephen G. Viazanko, III (Brenda) of Acme, Mary Pfeifer (Don) of Mt. Pleasant, Robert Viazanko (Tracy) of Kecksburg, David Viazanko (Priscilla) of Acme and Thomas Viazanko (Sue) of Lycippus, 7 grandchildren, Andrea (Kevin), Canice, Patrick (Kendall), Ryan (Katie), Mark (Erin), Anna (Zach) and Madison, 5 great grandchildren, Lacey, Mason, Connor, Ellie and Ford, his brother, Paul Viazanko (Dorothy) of Mt. Pleasant, his sister, Francis Gray of Derry and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Monday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity. A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM Tuesday in St. Florian Catholic Church, United, with The Rev. John A. Sedlak as celebrant. Please go directly to the church. Entombment will follow in Mary Mother of Mercy Mausoleum, St. Vincent Cemetery, Unity Township. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Norvelt VFD, 2325 Mt. Pleasant Road, Mt. Pleasant, PA 15666.
