Sandra J. (Stewart) Stoner

Sandra J. Stoner, 84, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Thursday, April 28, 2022.  She was born October 2, 1937, the second of three daughters to the late William and Dorothy Stewart, of Robinson, Indiana County, PA.  After graduating from United High School in 1955, Sandy worked as a secretary for Bethlehem Steel in Johnstown.  She married in 1961 and moved to Greensburg.  In 1970, she began working for Hempfield Area School District, first as the secretary at West Point Elementary and then at Hempfield Area Senior High School.  Sandy retired in 2003.  Sandy loved to bowl, play golf, and travel with her friends.  She enjoyed her card club, mahjong, and attending plays and musicals in Pittsburgh.  Her passion was her grandchildren, who she joyfully spoiled any chance she got.  Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Stoner; her parents; and her sister, Billie Stewart.  She is survived by children, her son and his wife, Robert and Amy Stoner, of Ligonier, and her daughter, Roxane Petro, of Greensburg.  She is also survived by her sister, Ginger Clawson, of Bolivar; her four grandchildren, Trey Stoner (Nashville), Tyler Stoner (Pittsburgh), A Petro (State College), and Benjamin Petro (Greensburg); and numerous nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Monday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg.  A private interment service will be held for the family in Westmoreland County Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Westmoreland Walks, Inc.  www.bachafh.com
