Salema Slyman, 98, of Greensburg, died Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Weatherwood Manor, Greensburg. She was born May 23, 1925, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Elias and Fudda (Mafood) Slyman. She was a graduate of Greensburg High School Class of 1943. Prior to retirement she had been an executive secretary at Westinghouse Corporation, Pittsburgh. Salema was a longtime member of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, South Greensburg where she taught Sunday School. She enjoyed golf, traveling, and playing the piano. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Josephine Morse, Julia Slyman, Genevieve Slyman, Margaret Moses, Laura Charles, and her twin, Samuel Slyman; and two nephews, James Moses and Frederick Charles. She is survived by two brothers, Eugene Slyman, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Dennis Slyman, of Greensburg; her cousin, Helen Joseph; nieces, Rebecca Slyman, Julie Manley, Amy Clayton, Dana Rados, and Laura Vogtman; nephews, Richard Moses, Jeffrey Slyman, Dennis Charles, Eugene Slyman, and Stephen Slyman; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews. There will be no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to a funeral service at 10 AM Friday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg with Archpriest John Nosal officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
