Russell W. "Bill" Frantz

Russell W. “Bill” Frantz, 89, of Unity Township, died Saturday, January 4, 2025 at AHN Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville.  He was born April 2, 1935 on the family farm near Mt. View in Unity Township, a son of the late Charles E. and Flora E. (Hamilton) Frantz.  He was a graduate of Greensburg High School class of 1953.  He was trained by Bell of PA to install and maintain business phone systems where he worked for 30 years then prior to retirement was co-owner of Tri-County Telephone.  Bill loved the outdoors, hunting, gardening and cooking.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Jo Anne (Loughner) Frantz who died in 2005 and his brother, Robert L. Frantz.  He is survived by his sons, Russel L. Frantz and wife Elaine and Richard E. Frantz and wife Dorothy all of Unity Township, 4 grandchildren, Jeremy D. Frantz and wife Amy of Pittsburgh, Angela Needham and husband Robert of Greensburg, Amy Stepanic and husband Stanley of Charlotteville, VA and Elizabeth Frantz of Greensburg, 6 great grandchildren, Ella, Piper and Logan Frantz, Bobby and Aubrey Needham and Alina Stepanic, a very special friend, Shirley and several nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received from 9 to 11 AM Saturday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity, at which time funeral services will be held with Pastor Elaine Frantz officiating.  Private interment in Westmorland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.
