Roy Thomas Nelson, 75, of Weltytown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.
Roy was an avid golfer, a proud veteran of the United States Air Force who served during the Vietnam War, a carpenter for SCI Greensburg for more than 25 years, a community volunteer, and someone who never missed the daily crossword puzzle.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Edward and Alberta (Dodds) Nelson; and his twin brother, Roger Nelson, who we are certain was waiting with open arms — and an ice-cold beer — to greet him. Heaven has a little more chaos now that the twins are back together.
Roy is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary (Limegrover) Nelson; his beloved daughters, Samantha (Tanner) Brawley and Amanda (Dino) Bartolozzi; his grandchildren, Brooke Catherine, Madison Hart, and Mason Dean; his sisters, Phyllis (JR) Mrosco, Sue (Mike Bock) Nelson, and Peggy (Tom) Patterson; his brothers, Ed (Deb) Nelson and Mike (Tammy) Nelson; as well as the many nieces and nephews who lovingly called him “Un-cool Roy.”
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Friday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity where a funeral service will begin at 11 AM Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prince of Peace Church, 1325 Mission Road, Latrobe, PA 15650.
Roy will be deeply missed and forever loved. His family takes comfort in the memories he gave them, the values he passed on, and the love that remains. www.bachafh.com
