Robert R. Zagar

Robert R. Zagar, 85, of Greensburg, died Friday, April 25, 2025, in Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg.  He was born July 26, 1939, in Jeannette, a son of the late Rudolph and Sophie (Popella) Zagar.  Prior to retirement he worked for Beckwith Machinery Company. He was a member of the SNPJ Lodge 729 in Yukon, the SNPJ Lodge 223 in Carbon, and a softball catcher for the Greensburg Merchant league.  Robert was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. He enjoyed gardening, especially planting tomatoes that he shared with everyone. He also enjoyed polkas and playing the button box accordion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Gerald Zagar; and his sister, Darlene Koelsch.  He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sophia (Yaksic) Zagar; two children, Shawn Zagar (Karen) and Lorene Martin; two granddaughters, Olivia Martin and Jennifer Walters (Adam); and several nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Monday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg.  Private interment will be held in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg. The family would like to thank the ICU Unity, Dr. Phillips and the amazing nurses who comforted him during his stay.
