Rev. John W. George, 86, of Pleasant Unity, died Friday, March 6, 2026 at Independence Health System Latrobe Hospital. He was born November 18, 1939 in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late John W. and Naomi C. (Briner) George. He was a graduate of Greensburg High School class of 1957 and served with the US Army from 1963-65 during the Vietnam War. Prior to retirement John worked at Standard Steel in Latrobe and served as Pastor at several churches including Murrysville Church of God, Bell Memorial Church and Greater Latrobe Full Gospel Church. He was a member of Sanctuary of Worship (formerly Journey Church), Mt. Pleasant, loved trains and used to race stock cars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna B. (Ardire) George and his brother, Robert D. George. He is survived by his children, Barbara Fazekas (Barry) of Greensburg and Michael George (Jennifer) of Lititz, 2 grandchildren, Austin and Dakota and his sister, Vivian Bulebosh of Pleasant Unity. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Sanctuary of Worship, 311 Holly Place, Mt. Pleasant. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
