Raymond Podlaszewski Obituary

Raymond Podlaszewski passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, December 23 in Greensburg, PA at the age of 97.

Raymond Bernard Podlaszewski was born August 4, 1928 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Vincent Joseph Podlaszewski and Catherine [Boziel] Podlaszewski. He married Ruth Claudine Koscielniak on June 21, 1952 in Milwaukee.

Raymond graduated from Boys' Technical High School in Milwaukee in 1946 after which he worked as a cabinet maker for Merchandising Crafts in Milwaukee. He proudly served his country as a Corporal in the U.S. Army in an anti-aircraft artillery battery at Fort Bliss, Texas and in Korea in 1952 and 1953. After serving, he was employed as a contract radar technology instructor for the U.S. Army at Fort Bliss. He then worked as a technical writer for RCA Corporation for over 30 years, first in Camden, New Jersey, then in Meadowlands, Pennsylvania, before moving to State College, Pennsylvania to continue his career there at HRB Singer as a Data Manager until his retirement in 1992. After retiring, he and his wife, Ruth, remained in State College for a number of years after which they moved to Latrobe, Pennsylvania to be closer to family. Ray greatly enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with his family. He also was an avid sports fan, rooting for the Green Bay Packers, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Raymond was predeceased by his parents, his wife Ruth in 2019, his daughter, Linda Anne Evans in 2010 and two sisters, Bernice B. Podlaszewski in 2018 and Jane Zajicek in 2013.

Raymond is survived by his children, Pamela (Dennis) Murawski of Cinnaminson, NJ, Kim (Duane) Christian of Washington, PA, Kenneth (Cindy) Podlaszewski of McMurray, PA, Robert (Laurie) Podlaszewski of Greensburg, PA, and David (Leslie) Podlaszewski of Sharptown, MD, 15 grandchildren,16 great-grandchildren, and his sister, Florence Zarski of Milwaukee, WI.

He was a member of St. Vincent Basilica in Latrobe, PA.

Friends will be received from 3 to 6 PM on Friday, January 2 at LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg, PA 15601. A funeral mass will be celebrated the following day, Saturday, January 3, at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent’ Basilica, 300 Fraser Purchase Rd., Latrobe, PA. Those who wish to attend mass should go directly to the church. Interment will be held at a later date at National Cemetery of the Alleghenies near Bridgeville, PA with military honors provided by the Canonsburg VFW Post 191 Honor Guard and the U.S. Army.
