Paul E. “Doc” Baum, 84, of Latrobe (Spring Crest), died Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at home. He was born May 23, 1941 in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late John S. and Ella (Davis) Baum. He was a graduate of Hurst High School class of 1959 and grew up in Pleasant Unity where alongside his parents helped run then eventually took over the former Baum’s Rest Home. Prior to retirement worked with Local Union 354 at Bergen Power Pipe Supports, Inc. in Donora. He was a member of Pleasant Unity Methodist Church. One of his greatest enjoyments was playing for and managing the Longshots Softball Team (WOLWD). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Violet K. Steel. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Patricia A. “Pat” (Britt) Baum, his children, Tammy Koshar (Steve), David Baum (Shelly), Wendy Geier (David), Jody Tylka (Len) and Paula Mack (J.J.), grandchildren, Luke, Jessie, Jenna, Jamie, Levi, Devin, Delaney and Josie, 7 great grandchildren, sisters, Alice Scekeres, Karen Babick (Richard) and Kathy Freeman (William), ex-wife and friend, Charlotte (Reese) Baum and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Interim Hospice nurses Alisha and Cheryl. Private funeral arrangements by LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity. Memorial contributions be made to Wounded Warrior Project or to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
