Michael J. Zurenski, I, 56, of Hempfield Township, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018. He was born September 9, 1961 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Joseph L., Jr. and Carole (Baxter) Zurenski. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents and his beloved Labrador retriever, Liberty Bell. He is survived by his wife: Linda D. (Baker) Zurenski; his children: Rachel (Rich) Aungst, John Zurenski, Nicole Zurenski and Michael, II (Paige) Zurenski; his grandchildren: Dylan, Owen, Zander, Zoey, Jackson, Riley and William; his siblings: Joseph, III (Kathy) Zurenski, Michelle (Tim) Dunn, and Steven (Rhuda) Zurenski and extended family and friends. With his love of sports, he dedicated many years to coaching hockey including his sons and multiple high school hockey teams. He enjoyed casual rounds of golf, horse racing, back yard barbequing and his annual trips to Las Vegas and Myrtle Beach. He also served school districts across Pennsylvania for over 30 years as a software programmer. He was a member of several social clubs in the area. He was an associate member of Fort Allen Volunteer Fire Department and a former trustee of the Fort Allen Firemen’s Club. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday and Wednesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM Thursday in the funeral home with The Rev. Paul A. Becker, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in St. Clair Cemetery with the playing of bagpipes. The Fort Allen Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a memorial service at 7 PM Tuesday in the funeral home.
