Michael E. Shuey

Michael E. Shuey, 51, of Greensburg, died Friday, August 23, 2024, surrounded by his family at UPMC St. Margaret Hospital in Pittsburgh. Michael tried to fight hard to overcome this awful disease but passed into the gates of heaven. He was born February 12, 1973, in Greensburg, the son of William E. Shuey (Carol) and Cindy Hochendoner (Paul).  Michael graduated from Hempfield High School in 1991. He worked at Reinhart Food Services until he became disabled due to his autoimmune disease. Michael’s sons were his pride and joy, his favorite thing to do was spend time with his boys and attend all their events. He was a social member of GVFD Hose Co. #8. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Phyllis and Richard Kaylor; paternal grandparents, Louis C. and Blanche Shuey; father-in-law, Terry Griffith; and his uncle, Mark Shuey. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Michele L. (Griffith) Shuey; two sons who were the loves of his life, Zachary R. and Bryce R. Shuey; a sister, Melissa Iarussi (Shawn); a niece, Chelsi Iarussi; a nephew, Conner Iarussi; aunts and uncles, Dana and Amy Kaylor, Jan and Eric Manley, John Paul and Melinda Shuey, and Louise and John Pavia; several cousins including two special cousins, Rick and Cory; mother-in-law, Nancy Griffith; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Missy May Griffith; his companion dog, Maxwell; and special longtime friends, Jason "Toad" Sweeney and Ken Bumgardner. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Monday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. A funeral service will begin at 11 AM Tuesday in the funeral home with Pastor Robert Statler officiating.  Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg.  The family would like everyone to wear their favorite Steelers or Latrobe Wildcat gear. www.bachafh.com
