Michael A. Palenchar, 86, of Greensburg, died Saturday, January 11, 2025, in his home. He was born February 10, 1938, in Carpentertown, a son of the late John A. and Mary (Puhala) Palenchar. Mike was a proud Navy veteran having served aboard the USS Wisconsin. Prior to retirement, he had worked in construction building homes, and worked for I.T.E. He enjoyed gardening, working outside in his yard, and planting flowers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred “Mitzi” (Valentic) Palenchar; his second wife, Judith (Perhac) Palenchar; five brothers, Albert, Joseph, William, John, and Andrew Palenchar; and his sister, Helen Woodman. He is survived by two sons, Gregory Palenchar and wife Gina, and Michael D. Palenchar and wife Karla, all of Greensburg; three grandchildren, Gregory Palenchar (Heather), Kristina Palenchar, and John Palenchar (Brittney); nine great-grandchildren, Luka, Ashleigh, Brayden, Lilliana, Logan, Gavin, Paisleigh, John Jr., and Jordan; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 3 to 6 PM Wednesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. Divine Liturgy will be held at 10 AM Thursday in Holy Ascension of Our Lord Serbian Orthodox Church, Youngwood. Please go directly to the church. Interment will follow in Holy Ascension Cemetery, Youngwood with Full Military Honors accorded by the American Legion Post No. 981, South Greensburg Honor Guard. www.bachafh.com
