Michael Lucotch Obituary

Michael E. Lucotch, 84, of Greensburg, died Sunday, October 2, 2022, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg with his loving wife by his side.  He was born January 25, 1938, in Trauger, a son of the late Michael E. and Elizabeth M. (Secosky) Lucotch.  Michael was a graduate of Hurst High School and received a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Pittsburgh.  He was an Army National Guard veteran.  Prior to retirement he had been employed by Latrobe Steel for 33 years.  After retirement, he worked as a consultant for Harbison-Walker Refractory.  He was a member of the former Forty Martyrs Catholic Church, Trauger.  He was a current member of St. Paul Parish, Greensburg where he served on parish council and was a prayer chain leader.  He was also a former PTA president of St. Paul School. 

Michael’s devotion to his faith and family came above all else.  He was passionately devoted to his wife and children and held several positions due to his involvement with his children’s activities.  Michael aided in reestablishing the St. Paul Boy Scout Troop #480 and served as the Unit Liaison for many years.  He was active in Cub Scout Pack #480, served at council level and received the Silver Beaver Award for his service.  He was as Vigil Honor member of Wagion Lodge 6 of the Order of the Arrow where he served as the Lodge Advisor and received the Thunderbird Award.  Michael was a founding member of the Greensburg Central Catholic Band Boosters.  He also served on the President’s Cabinet of Seton Hill College and belonged to the college’s Parents Association.  He was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan and a member of the Pens Booster Club.  He was a longtime member of Mt. Odin Golf Association.  An avid outdoorsman, he was a member of Trauger Sportsmen’s Club and Hecla Sportsmen’s Club. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Michaela Jencka; two brothers, Raymond Lucotch (Elizabeth) and Leonard Lucotch; and his sister, Mary “Toots” Burik (Joseph).  Michael is survived by his loving wife of 60 years and best friend, Audrey M. (Zelinsky) Lucotch; three sons, Michael Lucotch and wife Carrie, Mark “Bucky” Lucotch and wife Dawn, and Matthew Lucotch and wife Debra; his son-in-law, Stanley Jencka; four grandchildren who were extremely special to him, Cori McCulloch (John), Michael J. Lucotch, Jacob Lucotch (Kayla), and Jeremy Lucotch; two great-granddaughters, Mary Rosaleen and McKenzie Joy; a great-granddaughter and great-grandson who are on the way; sister-in-law, Rita Lucotch; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Friday in St. Paul Parish, Greensburg.  Please go directly to the church.  Entombment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum with Full Military Honors to be accorded by the VFW Post No. 33, Greensburg Honor Guard.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Parish, 820 Carbon Rd., Greensburg, PA 15601.  www.bachafh.com
