Maryann (Gaskey) Katonka, 84, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, March 28, 2025, in Elizabeth Seton Memory Care, Greensburg. She was born February 22, 1941, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Shimshock) Gaskey. She was a graduate of Greensburg High School and then graduated as a registered nurse from the Westmoreland Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral and St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church. Maryann found her greatest joy spending time with her children and grandchildren by taking them on trips to Disney, cruises, the Macy Thanksgiving Parade, and summer vacations to Myrtle Beach. Her Sundays were spent watching her beloved Steelers and cooking her grandchildren’s favorite meals for her Sunday pool parties. Her “me time” was spent reading and quilting along with hanging with the lady friends in the neighborhood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas S. “Mudge” Katonka; and her grandson, Scotty Katonka. She is survived by three sons, Tom Katonka, Scott Katonka, and Steve Katonka (Toni); eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. There will be no public visitation.
