Mary Ellen (Ostrander) Davin

Mary Ellen Davin, (nee Ostrander) of Greensburg, PA and Ft. Myers, FL, passed away on Sunday, July 21st, 2024, at home, at the age of 69. Loving wife of 49 years to William (Bill), devoted mother of Sarah, dear sister of Thomas (Christine) Ostrander, and Joanne Morgan, doting aunt of Stephen (Carol) Ostrander, Maureen Ostrander, Michael (Catherine) Ostrander, Madeline (Brendan) Connor, Katherine Morgan (Clark) Pierce, Matthew (Sarah) Morgan, and Jack Morgan. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Irven Ostrander, and her brother, Richard.  Mary Ellen was an outstanding, dedicated, and loving nurse. She worked for Excela Health Home Care and Hospice at Independence Health System for over 15 years as a compassionate hospice nurse and her nursing career expanded over 40 years. She was honored to be the recipient of the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing Cameos of Caring Award in 2011 for her tireless work in hospice, comforting and transitioning her patients and their families. The greatest compliment she received was having a previous patient’s family recognize her years later and profoundly thanking her for her compassion and dedication. She had the most loving and giving soul.  Relatives and friends will be received from 4 to 7 PM Thursday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity.  Her Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM Friday, July 26 at St. Vincent Basilica, 300 Fraser Purchase Road, Latrobe, PA.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary Ellen’s name may be made to Excela Health Home Care & Hospice at Independence Health System, 501 W. Otterman St. Greenburg, PA 15601 or to the Humane Society of Westmoreland County, 139 Humane Society Rd. Greensburg, PA 15601.
