Mary (Zappone) Fry

Mary (Zappone) Fry, 94, of Greensburg, died Friday, August 18, 2023, at her home.  She was born November 3, 1928, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Michael D. and Jennie E. (DeBone) Zappone.  Prior to retirement she had been the Vice President for Paul’s Pharmacy in Greensburg.  She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greensburg and the church’s Rosary Altar Society.  She was also a member of the Cercemaggiore Association.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Fry; son, Marc A. Fry; brother, Vincent N. Zappone; sister, Genevieve Panigall; and brother, Nicholas V. Zappone.  Mary is survived by her children, Lori Owen (Jack), and Carol Grmek (Luke); six grandchildren, Robert Fry (Bouvier), Zachary Fry, Andrew Owen (Racheal), Tyler Owen (fiancée Kelly), Jacob Grmek (Carly), and Sarah Grmek; five great-grandchildren, Aiden, Peyton, Bryson, Carson, and Ava Owen; sister, Flora Mae D’Amato (Joseph); brother, Michael Zappone (Mary); sister-in-law, Connie Zappone; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Friends will be received from 3 to 7 PM Tuesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg.  Prayers will begin at 9:30 AM Wednesday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 10 AM in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greensburg.  Entombment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.  The Our Lady of Grace Rosary Altar Society will pray the rosary at 2:45 PM Tuesday in the funeral home.  The family would like to express their thanks to Mary’s beloved caregiver, Mary Jo Matthews and her husband Mike.  They have been such a blessing to our family.  The family also thanks Brenda Zyvith and Tracy Thomas who were with Mary at the end of her journey.  The family also wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Redstone Home Health Care and Redstone Hospice.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to Clelian Heights, 135 Clelian Heights Ln., Greensburg, PA 15601.  www.bachafh.com
