Marlene Czesnakowski Obituary

Marlene Czesnakowski, 88, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, in Greensburg. She was born August 12, 1935, in Homestead, to the late John and Marie Pavasko. Marlene was the beloved wife of the late James Czesnakowski, whom she married in 1956. She was the loving mother of the late Jamie McCartney, late James Czesnakowski, Jr., and Janine (Mark) Valko. Marlene was also a cherished grandmother of Laurence McCartney, Justin (Laura) McCartney, Jenna (Jonah) Rattner, and Nicholas (Patrice) Nguyen. Additionally, she is survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. Marlene was preceded in death by her brothers, Howard, Jack, and Kenny Pavasko; and a sister, Beverly Deardorff.

Marlene graduated as Valedictorian from Mount St. Macrina in Uniontown and had a successful career, working at the University of Pittsburgh Pathology department as an executive secretary, and at Union Switch and Signal and Tri-County Engineering as a draftsman. She was an active member of the Junior Women's Club of Latrobe and volunteered at Westmoreland Hospital. Marlene had a passion for Pittsburgh sports teams. She enjoyed reading the Pittsburgh newspaper, playing cards and bowling with friends, solving crossword puzzles, and playing solitaire and Mahjong on the computer. The Game Show Network was a constant on her television, except when Jeopardy was on, of course.

Marlene was a loyal member of St. Vincent Parish in Latrobe. A private memorial service will be held at Greensburg Catholic Cemetery to honor and remember Marlene’s life. May she rest in peace.
