Mark Anthony Kubas, 71, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully in his home Sunday, December 22, 2024. He was born January 14, 1953, in Greensburg, a son of the late John and Geraldine (Fordyce) Kubas. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marcia Kubas; his children, Katie (late Joseph Broker, II) Kubas, Dr. Marc (Kim) Kubas and Zachary (Emily) Kubas; brothers, Eric (Cheryl) Kubas and Paul Kubas; his grandchildren, Joey Broker, III, Scarlet and Stella Kubas, and Penelope and Harrison Gandara; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graduate of Greensburg Salem High School (1970) and the Vale Technical Institute in Blairsville, Mark led a full life of hard work and deep compassion for his family, friends and anyone who came to him in need. Prior to retirement, Mark served several decades with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. After his retirement, not yet ready to abandon the working brotherhood he was so fond of, Mark continued to work for Revest Properties and the Westmoreland County Food Bank.
Those who knew Mark can attest to his commendable character, extraordinary work ethic and his tenacity in finding ways to remedy any problem. His skills in carpentry and automotive work were his greatest assets which he would graciously share, without hesitation, with anyone who asked. Mark was diligent in his work, completing countless labors of love. At times he learned things the hard way while continuously seeking ways to improve. Through his own learning, he never allowed others to struggle.
Though he didn’t seem to have an “off” switch, constantly in the depths of a project or several, his calloused, hardened hands bore no reflection of the softness, devotion and love in his heart. A wonderful and dependable husband, respectable father, loyal brother and generous “Pappy”, Mark always had time to spend with those he loved. He knew the fruits of his labor would be found in moments when family and friends gathered to share good food, plenty of laughs, and loving company.
Mark was loved by many coworkers and friends. His kindness, compassion and legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and all others blessed to have known him. Family and friends will be received from 1PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg, where a memorial service will immediately follow at 3:00 PM with Pastor Paul Hoover officiating. www.bachafh.com
