Louise Simon Obituary

Louise (Zajdel) Simon, 89, of Womelsdorf, formerly of Greensburg, died Monday, December 5, 2022, in her home.  She was born May 27, 1933, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Zajdel.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Simon; her son, Jeffrey Simon; brother, Joseph Zajdel Jr.; and sister, Josephine Wasserman.  She is survived by her sons, Gregory Simon and wife Shelly, and Kurt Simon; granddaughter, Hailey Simon; siblings, Regina Zajdel, Bernard Zajdel and wife Peggy, and Carol Keenan; and many nieces and nephews.  Louise, a retired registered nurse, graduated from Westmoreland Hospital School of Nursing in Greensburg and worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Reading and retired from Caron Hospital in Wernersville.  She was a member of the Parish Nurse Society and St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Francis de Sales Church in Robesonia.  Louise loved to dance and enjoyed jazz and blues music, books, movies, and football, especially the Steelers and Eagles.  She loved being with her sons, and swimming and snorkeling at Willow Springs Quarry in Richland.  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg.  Prayers will begin at 9:30 AM Friday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 10 AM in St. Bruno Roman Catholic Church, South Greensburg.  Interment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.  www.bachafh.com
