Louise L. Muse, 99, of South Greensburg, transitioned peacefully from this life on May 16, 2026, at home surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on March 20, 1927, to Edith and John “Bap” Coquillard, into the tail end of the Greatest Generation.
Louise is survived by her sister, Shirley Mills, of South Greensburg; son, Mark Muse, of Shepherdstown, WV; daughter, Deborah Muse. of South Greensburg; two granddaughters, Sarah Hlad (Tony Warner), of Level Green, and Jessica Lee (Chris), of Fredericksburg, VA; a grandson, Adam Hlad (Christine), of Level Green; six great-grandchildren, Orson and Ellis Hlad and Xander, Jes, Breyer, and Arden Lee; and many nieces and nephews.
Louise was preceded in death by Peter Muse, her doting husband of 64 years; Erin Muse, her youngest grandchild with whom she shared innate fashion sensibilities and a critical eye; and countless loved ones and contemporaries over her many years.
Louise’s passion for interior design and fashion led her to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, where she fell in love with a kind and dashing young man recently returned from the war in Europe. Pete and Louise were married in 1947, just prior to her graduation. Together they raised a son and daughter. With the support of her husband and children, Louise began a career in interior design which would span the better part of 30 years. Together with her sister, Shirley, she operated the successful design studio, Louise Muse Interiors.
She was proud of her French heritage and in certain situations had an extraordinary eye for detail. Never one to be idle for long, Louise loved to travel, garden, decorate, critique, read, paint, play cards and rummikub, do crossword puzzles, volunteer at Christian Layman and generally engage her mind. Blessed throughout her life with love, support, opportunity and plenty of pampering, Louise lived a life reflective of the grace she strove to project, with great appreciation and humble acknowledgement of her blessings. We mourn both Louise and the world as it was when she was in it.
Friends will be received from 3 to 6 PM Wednesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg, followed by a blessing service to begin at 6 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to Christian Layman Brothers or the Westmoreland County food Bank. We want to give a special thanks to Teresa and Jake from Bridges Hospice; their loving care was vital to ensuring Louise was able to pass with such ease in her own home. The family will always remember their beautiful contributions with deep thanks. www.bachafh.com
