Lorraine E. Lawrence, 81, of Pleasant Unity, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2023, at home. She was born Sept. 16, 1942, in Derry, a daughter of the late Kenneth W. and Margaret M. (McClune) Johnston. She was a graduate of Greensburg Salem High School class of 1960 and was a member of St. Florian Catholic Church, United. Lorraine enjoyed flower gardening, sewing and baking. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Johnston. She is survived by her husband of almost 59 years, Joseph J. Lawrence; three children, Mylee Gruss (Michael), of Derry, Adam Lawrence (Darla), of Greensburg, and Melissa Alwine (Paul Kobistek), of Latrobe; 12 grandchildren, Lindsay Carbonara (Justin), Michael J. Gruss (Krista), Abbey Saxman (Mark), Vanessa Culler (Jesse), Madison Murray (Kyle), Evan Gruss (Abigail), Noah J. Lawrence, Benjamin Alwine, Jacob Alwine, Ashleigh Alwine, Tristan Kobistek and Justin Kobistek; six great-grandchildren, Porter, Palmer and Piper Carbonara, Jayson Gruss, Maddox Saxman and Raelynn Alwine; six sisters, Ruth Johnston (Butch), of Latrobe, Geraldine Young, of Latrobe, Karen Barklege, of Greensburg, Sara Kearney (Jim), of Pittsburgh, Harriett Anderson (Joe), of Latrobe, and Marjorie Lancianese, of Latrobe; her best friends, Rita Reagan and Kathi Piper; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity. Prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Florian Catholic Church with the Rev. John A. Sedlak as celebrant.
