Leonard David Smartnick, 80, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 12th in the care of his daughter, Kristine, at her home in Pleasant Unity. He was born December 3, 1944, in Greensburg, a son of the late Anthony and Anna (Franko) Smartnick. Prior to his retirement he had been employed by ASEA-Brown Boveri and Westmoreland Distributing. Lenny was a hard worker all his life. A skilled handyman, a great friend to all and always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a member of St. Bruno Roman Catholic Church, South Greensburg. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed listening to polka music, camping and taking his family to amusement parks when they were younger. Lenny especially enjoyed visits with his best friend Gene Zuzak. Enjoying a beer while talking or watching a football game. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his adored daughter, Susan Ann Smartnick whom he missed dearly. Brothers William, John, Albert, Anthony, Andrew, Edward, Paul and Steve Smartnick and sister Paulina Karazsia. He is survived by his wife of sixty years Elizabeth "Betty" (Fesh) Smartnick. Five children Kristine (Mike) Keslar, Karen (Scott) Dellinger, Kimberly (Todd) Moore, Lynn (Rich) Wagner, Brenda (Steve) Zyvith; ten grandchildren, Matthew, David, April, Lori, Steven, Andrew, Julia, Colten, Ryder and Seneca. Eight great-grandchildren. One brother, Frank (Laverne) Smartnick and several nieces and nephews. A Special thank you to Three Rivers Hospice, Pastor John, Rachel, Marcie and Sarah for your care and kindness. Per Lenny's wishes there will be no public visitation. A celebration of life mass will be announced at a later date. Leo M. Bacha Funeral Home, Inc. 2072 Rt 130, Pleasant Unity is assisting with arrangements.
