Judith Pacek Obituary

Judith Ann Pacek, 84, of Greensburg, died Saturday, September 27, 2025, peacefully at her home after a year-long battle with cancer.  She was born on October 10, 1940, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Paul and Margaret (Haney) Kistner.

Judy was a 70-year member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral and was presently a member of Our Lady of Grace Church. She was a homemaker who dedicated her life to raising her children, serving the church, and helping others.  When she was a young wife and mother, Judy taught music at Our Lady of Grace CCD to special needs children and volunteered for 10 years as a music instructor to mentally and physically challenged kids at St. Joseph Hall, Greensburg.  Judy was a lunch time “gray lady” at Cathedral school when her children went there and was a Eucharistic Minister for over 30 years, distributing Holy Communion at weekend masses, Westmoreland Hospital on Sunday mornings, and nursing homes and home visits during the week.

Judy was a Westmoreland Hospice volunteer for over 20 years, visiting terminally ill patients and assisting the families during those difficult times.  She also served as a catechist for the RCIA program at the Cathedral for many years teaching prospective new Catholics about the faith.

Judy was a graduate of Greensburg High School.  She always had a welcoming smile and easy disposition to anyone who knew her.  She had a special affinity for the disadvantaged in society and people with mental and physical disabilities.

In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Joseph; stillborn daughter, Baby Pacek; a sister, Patricia Joyce Jackson; a brother, Stanley Kistner; and brothers and sister-in-law, Frank Jackson, Denis Darcie, Dick Patrick, and John and Geraldine Jurkovic.  She is survived by her children, Kimberly Moga (Leo), of Derry, Laura Laredo (Phil), of Smiley, Texas, Robert Pacek (Patricia), of New Alexandria, and Michael Pacek, of Greensburg; her sisters, Mary Sidehammer (Roger) and Paula Darcie, all of Greensburg; a brother, Richard Kistner (Karen), of Largo, Florida; sister-in-law, Patricia Kistner; five granddaughters, Nicole, Stephanie, Alexis, Bobbie, and Myda; and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

Friends will be received from 9 to 10 AM Tuesday in the vestibule of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 1011 Mount Pleasant Road, Greensburg, PA 15601 with a funeral mass to be celebrated immediately following at 10 AM.  Entombment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.  LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg is assisting with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Canine Partners for Life, 334 Faggs Manor Road, Cochranville, PA 19330.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff of AHN Home Health and AHN Hospice for the kindness and compassionate care they all provided during Judy’s illness.  www.bachafh.com
