Joseph E. Pellis, 78, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, January 19, 2021 in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born November 4, 1942 in Greensburg, a son of the late Roger E. Sr. and Mary (Massi) Pellis. Prior to retirement he had been an educator for 35 years at Norwin High School. He taught industrial arts, was a football coach and the athletic director. He was a member of St. Paul Parish, Greensburg, and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1480, Greensburg. He was a devoted husband, father, and “Pepaw” to his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janice E. (Illgen) Pellis; three sons, Mark J. Pellis (Cindy), of Bethel Park; Vincent D. Pellis (Viviana Ramirez), of Chatham, NJ, and Adam W. Pellis, of Greensburg; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Leah, Sam, Valentino, Luciano, Clemente, and Mia; his brother, Roger E. Pellis (Paul Kendrick), of Silver Spring, MD; two sisters, Phyllis Pellis, of Greensburg, and Anita Diem, of Silver Spring, MD; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Friday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday in St. Paul Parish, 820 Carbon Rd., Greensburg. Please go directly to the church. Private interment will be in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.
