Joseph R. Paravate, 62, of South Greensburg, died Saturday, May 25, 2024. He was born June 4, 1961, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Joseph N. and Elverna M. (Colley) Paravate. Joe had been employed by Bayer Healthcare. He was a member of Pennsville Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant where he played guitar as part of the Praise Team. He was also active in camping ministry at Camp Sonrise Mountain. Joe was skilled in small engine repair and model train repair. It was not unusual to find him helping at Brady’s Train Outlet. Joe is survived by his wife of 26 years, Christine E. “Chrissie” (Shick) Paravate; his children, Melissa, Emily, Gregory, and Cameron Paravate, all at home; his sister, Joyce Ann Paravate, of Pittsburgh; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Connie Shick, of Latrobe; his brother-in-law, Scott Shick and wife Amy, of Greensburg; aunt, Alice Masur, of Tennessee; and several cousins. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. A funeral service will begin at 11 AM Thursday at Pennsville Baptist Church, 3298 Richey Rd., Mt. Pleasant, PA 15666 with Pastor Robert W. Allison officiating. Please go directly to the church.
