Joseph Garchar, 96, of Greensburg, died Sunday, November 24, 2024, at his home. He was born November 14, 1928, in Mount Pleasant, a son of the late Michael and Angelia Nellie (Geshinsky) Garchar. Prior to retirement, Joseph worked as a machinist for Detroit Mould Engineering for more than 40 years. Joseph was a proud United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Greensburg. He was also a member of the VFW Post No. 33, Greensburg, the American Legion, Post No. 981, South Greensburg, and, in his younger years, enjoyed bowling in several leagues at Hillview Lanes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann (Stefl) Garchar; three brothers, Edward, Frank, and Bill; and his sister, Eleanor Garchar. He is survived by his two daughters, Lisa Amorso (Dwayne) and Amy Thropp (Chuck); two grandsons, Alex Thropp and Aaron Amoroso; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 11 AM to 12 PM Friday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. A funeral liturgy will begin at 12 PM in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum, Delmont with full military honors accorded by the American Legion Post No. 981, South Greensburg Honor Guard.
