Joseph E. Foschia, Sr., 89, of Greensburg, died Friday, March 21, 2025, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born August 12, 1935, in Greensburg, a son of the late John and Angelina (Coletto) Foschia. Prior to retirement he had been a truck driver for St. Johnsbury Trucking Co., and had also driven for B & P Motors, Pittsburgh Greensburg Express, and Yellow Trucking Co.
He was a lifelong member of Teamsters Local No. 30 and a member of the 49ers Club, Amvets Post No. 88, and Hecla Sportsman Club. Joe enjoyed spending time with friends at Hempfield Hunt Club playing the machines. He loved playing pinochle, going to the casino with friends and family, spending time with his granddogs, trips to camp, fishing, hunting, and trips to Canada with his friends. He enjoyed a shot of Black Velvet and a good cigar. Most days you could find Joe either sitting on his front porch watching the cars travel by or cruising around town in his big Lincoln listening to oldies.
He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. Joe was a jokester who enjoyed making people laugh with his silly, witty sense of humor, enjoyed stirring the pot, but at the end of the day was loved by all. Joe aged like the fine wine that he made.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Blanche Foschia Susko and Frank Susko; his niece, Sandra Susko Butler; and his beloved dog, Jingles. He is survived by his children, Joseph Foschia, Jr. (Donna Hammond), Matt Foschia (Danette), and Crystal Foschia (Doug Iapalucci); his granddaughter, Ri Nicole Foschia (fiancée Andrew); nephew, Frankie Susko (Geralyn); several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and good friends, the Scarpas (Matt, Cindy, Alle, and Matthew) and the Erretts (Brian, Chloe, Kohl, and Blake).
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. A funeral service will begin at 11 AM Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. David Clement officiating. Interment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Visiting Angels, especially Shirley Farino, Lori and Dave from Senior Helpers, and the staff at RNC, Independence Health Westmoreland Hospital, and Allegheny General Hospital for their wonderful care. www.bachafh.com
