John D. “Jack” Miller, 90, of Unity Township, died Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Hempfield Manor Nursing Home, Greensburg. He was born July 14, 1934 in Bovard, a son of Denver E. and Jessie T. (Black) Miller. He met his beloved wife of 66 years Joanne M. (Sickenberger) at Greensburg High School, served two years with the US Army and after several moves settled in Greensburg to raise their 4 children, Kelli Seamens (Chuck) of Tennessee, John D. Miller, II who is deceased, Rhonda McMurtrie (John) of Tennessee and Melissa Kilkeary (Ed) of Latrobe. Jack was a sheet metal worker by trade but was literally a “Jack of all trades”, he could fix or build anything. Pap’s workshop was a beloved haven for him and his grandchildren. He will fondly be remembered driving his little red truck to his granchildren’s football, baseball, volleyball, karate and horse competitions. He and his wife never missed an event whether it was a game, Friday night bowling or a Sunday tennis match with friends. Jack was a fan of all things Pittsburgh, Pitt, Steelers and the Pirates. He was involved in the construction of many iconic Pittsburgh buildings, held many titles throughout his life and carried them all out with his infectious smile and kindness. In addition to his parents and son, he was preceded in death by his brother, Denver E. “Bud” Miller, Jr. and his sister, Jean Flock. In addition to his wife and children he is survived by 8 grandchildren, Jessica (Zack), Patrick (Madison), Kaitlyn (Nathan), Alexandra (Gilberto), Eddie, Jack (Carolyn), Abbey and Anna, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his beloved pup Bentley. Friends will be received from 2 to 5 PM Sunday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Monday in St. Vincent Basilica, Latrobe. Please go directly to the church. Interment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery, Hempfield Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Second Chance Equine Assn., PO Box 193, Norvelt, PA 15674. Heaven has just gained a beautiful soul.
