John B. Millen, Jr., 88, of Greensburg, died May 5,2021 at Excela Hospital in Greenburg, PA. He was born July 28, 1932 in Greensburg, the son of the late John B. and Catharine Millen. John was a humble and generous man. He gave his time and money without any desire for recognition. He was a man of strong faith whose relationship with God gave him strength and comfort throughout his life. He was a member and Trustee Emeritus of Trinity United Church of Christ, Greensburg. He attended Penn State University, was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed by the Elliott Co. in Jeannette. He served in the US Army for two years. Prior to his retirement, John was a Sales Representative and Pittsburgh Sales Manager for M.S. Jacobs & Associates of Pittsburgh. He was an avid golfer for more than 50 years and held memberships at Hannastown Golf Club in Greensburg, Firestone CC in Akron, Ohio, and Ford's Colony Country Club in Williamsburg, Va. He was a former member of the Greensburg and Mt. View Rotary Clubs, a past board member of Lancaster Theological Seminary, and was a 38-year board member and Past Board President of St. Paul’s in Greenville. In 2003, John received the Trustee of the Year Award from the Pa. Assoc. of Non-Profit Homes for the Aging; the first board member of St. Paul’s to receive this honor. It was given for his many years of dedicated service and visionary leadership to St. Paul’s. Since 2000, he introduced and helped implement many innovative and creative ways to improve the lives of the Alzheimer residents at St. Paul’s. John wrote two books: the little book of SALES SECRETS and A History of Care, 1917-2007- a ninety-year history of St. Paul Homes. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Nancy; and a sister, Sarah Butler. He is survived by two daughters, Jana Millen, of Batavia, OH, and Julianne Millen, of Traverse City, MI; a son, John B. Millen, III (Laura), of Chesterfield, Va.; five grandchildren, Alex Darrow, Shane Darrow (Mallory), Samantha Trierweiler, (Kyle), and twins Reese and Tanner Millen; great grandsons, Bradley Kik, Graham Darrow, and Lexon Trierweiler; and two brothers, James A. Millen, of Greensburg and Thomas W. Millen (Marti), of Williamsburg, Va. Family and friends will be received from 3-6 p.m. Sunday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. Linda Miller-Pretz officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Twp.
