John C. Gootz

John C. Gootz, 68, of Greensburg, died Monday, April 8, 2024, in Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg.  He was born November 26, 1955, in McKeesport, a son of the late Harry J. and Margaret (Gebhart) Pifferetti.  John worked in maintenance at Independence Health System Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant and served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He had a passion for riding motorcycles, enjoyed cooking, building things, camping, shooting, holidays and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Janet L. (Gaffey) Gootz; four children, Shawn Gootz, Christina Hudak, Elizabeth Gootz, and Johnathon Gootz; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Larry J. Pifferetti (Bonnie), Timothy Gootz (Darlene), and Paul Gootz; three sisters, Liz Gootz (James), Delila Pifferetti, and Mary Lynn Pifferetti (Shawn); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Friends will be received from 10 to 11 AM Saturday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg, with a funeral service to follow at 11 AM with The Rev. David L. Clement officiating. www.bachafh.com
