John G. “J.D.” Davis, 65, of Unity Township, died Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh.  He was born March 22, 1959 in Greensburg, a son of Sally (Rummell) Davis of Ligonier and the late John G. Davis.  Prior to his illness he worked at the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit then later while self-employed at Valley School of Ligonier.  He was a member of Unity Township American Legion Post #982.  J.D. loved being outdoors and mowing on his John Deere tractor.  He was competitive in nature and also enjoyed splitting firewood, golfing and fishing but mostly loved spending time at his workshop.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, James A. Davis.  He is survived by his wife, Kathy “Kat” Sliz, his daughter, Alyssa Davis and her significant other Nickolas Younkins of Latrobe, his father-in-law and friend, Joe Sliz and 4 brothers, Richard L. (Dee), Thomas E. (Shelley), Mike S. (Sheri) and Joseph T. Davis (Amy).  He had a special relationship with his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  At J.D.’s request there will be no visitation and services to be private.  Memorial contributions may be made to Unity Township American Legion Post 982, 158 American Legion Road, Latrobe, PA 15650 or to Tiny Cause animal rescue, 131 Columbia Ave., Vandergrift, PA 15690.  LEO M.
