James M. Petonic

James M. Petonic, 87, of Greensburg, died Thursday, December 12, 2024, in Independence Health System Latrobe Hospital.  He was born June 19, 1937, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Michael and Florence (Finnerty) Petonic.  Jim was a 1955 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in Connellsville, a 1959 graduate of Notre Dame University, a 1963 graduate of St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore, Maryland, and received a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1965.  He enjoyed golf, any sports on television, and his family and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.  He will be lovingly remembered by family and friends, including the Schencks, the Soissons, the Petonics, the Yahners, longtime friend, Kathy Bacha and her family; and many close friends.  Friends will be received from 2 to 5 PM Sunday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 AM Monday in St. Paul Parish, 820 Carbon Rd., Greensburg, PA 15601.  Please go directly to the church.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Connellsville.  Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Parish.  www.bachafh.com
