James “Jim” Edward Morrison, 67, of Greensburg, passed unexpectedly at home on Saturday, February 24, 2018. He was born November 14, 1950 in Greensburg to the late James and Emma (Myers) Morrison. Jim grew up in his hometown of Greensburg and graduated from Greensburg Salem High School in 1968. In May 1972, Jim graduated with honors from Saint Vincent College in Latrobe with a B.A. in Economics. In June 1972, Jim married his high school sweetheart, Patsy Ann McKelvey, to whom he remained lovingly devoted in marriage until his passing. Also in June 1972, Jim was hired by Kennametal, Inc., where he worked for 37 years until his retirement in 2009. Jim had an outstanding career with Kennametal, during which he made many significant contributions to the company’s growth and success. He advanced through several financial positions over his long and highly successful career, including being elected Treasurer in 1987, Vice President and Treasurer in 1993 and also Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions. During his working years, Jim served with an extremely high level of professionalism, camaraderie and humility. He traveled for business extensively, both domestically and internationally, and was widely admired, respected and warmly regarded by all who were so very fortunate to work and interact with him. Jim had a most endearing manner and easily made many friends. He served as Chairman of the Westmoreland County United Way and was a member of the board of United Way of Southwestern PA for many years. Jim had a strong passion for supporting the local community and helping those in need. He loved playing golf and cards, supporting his favorite sports teams, researching his family ancestry and history, working around his home and spending time with friends. Jim will be sadly missed and dearly remembered by many cherished friends, former colleagues at Kennametal and fellow volunteers at United Way. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Patsy; his brother, Mark Morrison; his nephew, R.J. Morrison (Becci); two nieces, Jennifer Morrison Eilers (Kevin) and Kate Morrison Patton (Bryan); and two cousins, Rick Zappone (Chris) and Kathy McCormick (Dick). Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. Prayers will begin at 9:00 AM Wednesday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 9:30 AM in Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg. Entombment will follow in the Mary Mother of Mercy Mausoleum at St. Vincent Cemetery, Latrobe.
