James J. Lutz, 72, of Latrobe, formerly of Greensburg, died Wednesday, December 4, 2024, in Concordia at Bethlen, Ligonier. He was born January 18, 1952, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Robert J. and Elizabeth J. (Burke) Lutz. He was a graduate of Hempfield Area High School Class of 1969 and received a bachelors degree in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to retirement he had been the Director of Purchasing for Westmoreland County Community College. He had also been employed by First Energy in Greensburg for 23 years, and Performance Health, Export, which then became Hygienic Corp in Akron, Ohio. Jim enjoyed playing softball in his younger years, and attending concerts with his wife, Deb. He had a passion for golf and was a member of the Hannastown Golf Club for 24 years. He was a longtime season ticket holder for Pitt Basketball and enjoyed attending Pittsburgh Pirates baseball games. After his Parkinson’s diagnosis, Jim found support with Rock Steady Boxing classes at Fit 4 Boxing in Export and enjoyed being a part of the Westmoreland Parkinson’s Support Group. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Deborah J. (Shultz) Lutz; and two brothers, David Lutz (Pamela), of Bluffton, SC, and Robert Lutz, Jr. (Gail), of Hendersonville, NC.
