James Benedict Barlock, 87, of Acme, died Tuesday, April 6, 2021 surrounded by his loving wife and family at his home in Donegal Township. He was born March 11, 1934, a son of the late John J. and Emma J. (Houck) Barlock. He was a graduate of Latrobe High School class of 1953 and worked from a teenager at Whitney Engineering until 1964. Prior to retirement in 1996 Jim worked 32 years as a machinist for Latrobe Steel. He was a member of St. Vincent Basilica Parish, Latrobe and had been a devoted member of the former St. Boniface Catholic Church, Chestnut Ridge. Jim was a volunteer at the St. Vincent Basilica Gift Shop and also many years at the St. Vincent Gristmill. He enjoyed singing with the Barber Shop Chorus of the McKeesport Chapter and was a lifetime member of the Hecla Sportsmen’s Club. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bob Tumbleson, a daughter-in-law, Teri Barlock, a grandson, Derek Tumbleson, two brothers, infant John Barlock and Charles Barlock and his wife Audry, and his sister, Henrietta “Peggy” Bell. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nancy J. (Lenhart) Barlock, nine children, Emily Tumbleson of Whitney, Cynthia Blank and husband Fred of Port St. Lucie, FL, Timothy Barlock and wife Tammy of Acme, Cathy Shafer and husband Fred of Latrobe, Caryl Schober and husband Don of Rector, James T. Barlock of Herminie, Theresa Presock and husband Steve of Stahlstown, Nanette Bell and husband Dave of Acme and Marcia Bradshaw and husband Jeffrey of Champion, ten grandchildren, Jason Reitz, Justin Barlock-Shafer (Beth), Jordin Schober, Nichole Presock Williams (Danny), Abbie Tumbleson Leland (Ben), Haley Roddy, Tyler Barlock (fiancée Rachel Salai), Hannah Bell, Megan Bradshaw and Jacob Bradshaw, four great grandchildren, Seth Murphy, Chloe and Sophia Tenney and Faith Miller, a brother-in-law, Kenneth Bell and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation or viewing, a private funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Vincent Basilica Parish. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of James B. Barlock to St. Vincent Basilica, 300 Fraser Purchase Road, Latrobe, PA 15650.
