Jacqueline T. Dorich Walter

Jacqueline T. Dorich Walter (aka Meyers). Born June 22, 1941, in Erie, to Theresa M. Sarnowski and John James Dorich. She gave her soul to The Lord on November 10, 2025, after fifty years of nursing type 1 diabetes and a recent stroke. Jacqueline graduated in 1958 from St. Gregory High Schol in North East, PA where she and her first husband, James R. Meyers made their home. Jackie graduated with a B.S. in social work from Mercyhurst College on the same day as her eldest son. After her divorce, she left her postal carrier job and moved to Pittsburgh to pursue her graduate degree at the University of Pittsburgh. She was employed by Children’s Services and several Allegheny and Westmoreland county agencies related to her field.  She was a “comfortable” ethnic cook and baker; her spirits were always lifted with music and dancing. At a singles dance, Jackie met the kindest man in the world and married Dr. William Walter, seven years later. They built an inviting home in Murrysville for their combined families to visit from near and far, moving 20 years after that to Greensburg. Bill preceded her in death in 2018.  Jackie is survived by her four children who were her “lifelines” and the joy of her years on earth, Chrisopher Meyers of Frisco, TX, Valerie Buck (Russell) of Erie, PA, Nicholas Meyers (Lori Anne) of Annapolis, MD, and Anita Simpson (P.J.) of Greensburg. She is also survived by her brother, Michael J. Dorich (Eloise) and their children, all of California; three stepdaughters, and their four sons, Mary Kathleen Harding (Warren), Mary Elizabeth Overcashier (Jan), and Karin Walter. There are a gaggle of grandchildren, Kayla Kramer (Drew), Heather Pirschel (Erich), Bruce Hammer, Megan Hammer, Tim Meyers (Nicole), Bridget Meyers, Connor Simpson and Claire Simpson. She also has five step-grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Also surviving are dear friends Carol Jud and Mary Lou Wittman who remained “golden” despite the miles of separation and her beloved cat, Rita. As a member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Jackie helped with senior groups and meal services. She regularly participated on Counting Committee and sang in the Funeral Choir. Jackie could talk to anyone about anything but often needed a filter. (In her own words). Friends will be received from 5 to 8 PM Thursday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg.  Prayers will begin at 1 PM Friday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 1:30 PM in Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg.  Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
