George V. Koshar, 78, of Pleasant Unity, died Friday, July 11, 2025 at UPMC Magee Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born July 9, 1947 in Pleasant Unity, a son of the late Theodore N. and Mary E. (Raccor) Koshar. He was a graduate of Latrobe High School class of 1965 then served with the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Prior to retirement he worked at Elliott Company, Jeannette and was a member of St. Florian Catholic Church, United. George was a member of United Slovak, Calumet Community, Norvelt Firemen’s and Hostetter Slovak Clubs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jason V. Koshar, 3 brothers, John, Edward and Paul Koshar and 3 sisters, Theodora Brooky, Mary Ann Odendahl and Rose Zukiewicz. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jeanie M. (Lowther) Koshar, a son, Michael P. Koshar (Tammy) of Pleasant Unity, 2 granddaughters, Marissa and Sydney Koshar, a sister, Cathy Zimmerman of Perryopolis, a brother, William Koshar (Marlene) of Belle Vernon and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Monday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity where a funeral liturgy will be held at 11 AM Tuesday with The Rev. John A. Sedlak as celebrant. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the United Slovak Club Scholarship fund.
