Fred W. “Pappy” Hickle, Jr., 90, of Hunker, died Saturday, May 24, 2025. He was born June 5, 1934, in Donora, a son of the late Fred W., Sr. and Nellie (Hines) Hickle. Prior to retirement he had been employed for 35 years by Georgia Pacific Corp, where he was the union steward for many years. Fred was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 446, Mt. Pleasant, Teamsters Local No. 30, Jeannette, a lifetime member of Jenner Rod & Gun Club, Jenners, and a former member of Hempfield Hunt Club and Hunker VFD. Fred enjoyed going to camp with his son on Laurel Mountain. He loved traveling to the Jersey shore with his family and also cruising to the Caribbean. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Vickie Hickle; and his brothers, Robert, Gilbert, and James Hickle. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ann T. (Todorich) Hickle; a son, Fred W. Hickle, III; two daughters, Cindy Soccio (Dr. Mark), and Suzanne Lambert (Phil). He was a special “Pappy” to five grandchildren, Sydney Hickle, Scott Soccio, Eric Soccio, Kellie Lambert, and Ryan Lambert. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Thursday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Clair Cemetery with Full Military Honors accorded by the American Legion Post No. 981, South Greensburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hunker Volunteer Fire Department. www.bachafh.com
