Frances Catherine Panetti, age 91, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at the Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at Greater Pittsburgh. Born on November 13, 1933, in Mutual, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Harvan) Storkel. Frances dedicated her life to caring for others, working for many years as a nurse’s assistant to families throughout the Greensburg area. Her gentle presence and tireless compassion left a lasting impact on those she served.
A devout member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Frances found joy and purpose in her faith community. She was active in the Rosary Confraternity, served as a Red Cross Certified Gray Lady volunteer at the Cathedral School, and led with warmth and dedication as a Girl Scout Leader—nurturing young girls in faith, friendship, and service. Her Slovak heritage was a source of pride, reflected in her longtime membership in the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association of the United States of America.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James L. Panetti; her parents; and five siblings, Elizabeth Zabkar, John Storkel, Mary Lou Vallano, Josephine Kelly, and Agnes Thiess. Frances is survived by her two children, Her son, James Panetti and his wife, Sherry, from Silver Spring, MD, and her, daughter, Angela Krompier, and her husband, Jeff, from Bloomingdale, NJ; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM on Thursday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. Prayers will begin at 9 AM on Friday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 9:30 AM in Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, 300 N. Main St., Greensburg. Entombment will follow at Greensburg Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.
