Eileen Pereira Obituary

Eileen (Riley) Pereira, 87, of Greensburg, died Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg.  She was born February 2, 1936, in Patton, a daughter of the late J. Stanley and Elizabeth (Whalen) Riley.  Eileen attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Greensburg High School and graduated in 1954.  She attended music school in Philadelphia, PA.  She moved to Florida for a period of time and worked for Boeing Airline.  She had the privilege of witnessing the unmanned missile scheduled trips into space.  Eileen was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greensburg where she sang with the Premier and Memorial Choir.  She also had the privilege of singing with Koinonia Chorals from the Church of the Brethren, the hospice singers in the hospitals, and with the veterans on Memorial Day.  Eileen enjoyed writing poetry, transforming them into songs, and arranging, singing, and recording music.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, John Riley, Robert “Bobby” Riley, Rosemary Kelley, and Joanne D’Alessandro; and her fur loves Sasha and Levi.  She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Tony; her three children, Jay Pereira, Lori Pereira-McCloy, and Leslie Mosesso; four grandchildren who were the light of her life, Chad, Jenna, Marcus, and Anthony; and her fur love, Sadie.  She found great joy in her family and her extra special friends – they know who they are.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 1011 Mount Pleasant Rd., Greensburg, PA 15601.  Please go directly to the church.  Entombment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.  LEO M.
