Edwina Marie Mauro, 91, of Greensburg, was called home on Sunday, May 29, 2022. She was born in Greensburg on Sept 8, 1930, daughter of the late John B. and Constantine Grabowski Charnesky. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guistino Ralphael Mauro, in 2009; two sons, John and Lee; a daughter, Constance; a grandson, Nicholas; five brothers, Casimir, Joseph, Henry, Edward, and Arthur; and three sisters, Victoria, Virginia, and Irene. She is survived by two sons, Ralph and Richard (with partner Karen Cavazza); and daughter, Cynthia (with husband Todd Dellecker); three grandchildren, Lee Dellecker, Jessica Mauro, and Lauren Bowman (with husband Jon); and one great-grandson, Cooper Lee Bowman.
Edwina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a devout Catholic and member of St. Paul Parish in Greensburg. She dedicated her life to family and friends, who cherished her as a gentle, selfless, and loving soul……..with a sense of style and fashion that we all envied (not to mention that beautiful head of hair)!
She was a magician in her modest kitchen, turning out feasts at every holiday. All other would-be chefs were compared on her grandson’s scale of “1 to grandma.” She was also an avid bowler and bingo player in her younger years, and a vigorously competitive Yahtzee player and rummy player in later years. While her children Ralph, Cindy, John, and Ricky gave her boundless joy, nothing made her happier than her grandchildren, Lee, Nick, Jessie, Lauren…….and most recently great-grandson Cooper (who she proudly boasted: “He kissed me first!”).
While she will be deeply missed by all that knew her, we take comfort knowing that she is now reunited with her adoring husband Gus, and he with his queen. Forever in our hearts.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. Prayers will begin at 9:30 AM Thursday in the funeral home followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 10 AM in St. Paul Parish, Greensburg. Interment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery. www.bachafh.com
